Many of you have asked us what we’re doing to stay as healthy as we can during this pandemic. Besides self quarantining ourselves and following the CDC’s hygienic recommendations, we are taking tinctures of medicinal mushrooms (Chaga, Cordyceps, Lion's Mane, Maitake, Red Reishi, Turkey Tail, White Jelly), drinking herbal teas (Elderberry, Elderflower, Peppermint, Echinacea, Lemon Balm, Licorice Root, Ginger, Mullein, Rosehips), keeping vitamin C in our diets daily, and we’re taking a tablespoon of our Elderberry syrup (recipe below).
With legalization of CBD has come an influx of companies selling all sorts of differing CBD products, but how do you know what’s good, safe, and trustworthy? First, you need to find a company who you feel you can trust, then you need to look into their process, ingredients source, and then decide if you think they know what they’re doing.

Since opening up our products and herbal remedies to the public in 2018, we've had a tremendous response which has taken us all by surprise. We never thought we'd be in the position we are today, but alas, here we are... We've sold over 5,000 products since setting up at our local farmers market on a whim and an idea. As you know, we've promised to plant tree seeds for every item sold, and so we have some work ahead of us this spring. With your patronage, we've raised enough from our sales to plant 5,451 trees. Not all trees will sprout, and not all will live on to become a vibrant member of an Ohio forest, but we will continue to do our best to help curb the negative effects deforestation has had on our planet. CBD is the hottest plant in town, and now with Ohio’s official legalization of cannabidiol, it’s popping up on store shelves everywhere. But what is it exactly? CBD or cannabidiol is the non-psychoactive compound found in hemp or cannabis sativa and does not make you high, but is showing to be one of the most healing plants in the world.
CBD was sold in stores up until late last year because of the federal farm bill that stated hemp can be cultivated and sold in the US so long as it has 0.3% of THC or less. Then, the Ohio pharmacy board threw a wrench in the system and stated they do not allow CBD sales outside of Ohio’s new medical marijuana dispensaries. So us and many other businesses were confused by this gray line that had been drawn, and so most companies took the products off their shelves. We slowed down and stopped making innovative medicinal products with hemp CBD, which hurt our business and hurt your ability to heal yourself.
In a modern world suffering from overpopulation, where the land is being stripped, the food processed and poisoned, the medicine often causing more harm than good, it’s important to return to the roots that guided our evolution. The natural ways which worked for hundreds of generations before us is still alive and well, and our family is here to offer insight into how plant medicines can improve your everyday wellness.
Woodland Herbal Apothecary is hosting a 3-hour hands-on workshop, taught by our family of Herbalists. Woodland Herbal is made up of four generations of Herbalists who specialize in creating plant-based natural remedies, natural body care, and more. This comprehensive workshop will go over a wide range of topics and teachings about all things Herbalism, including how to make plant medicines, how to grow and harvest herbs, recipe making, and much more, as well as a hands-on experience making teas, tinctures, extracts, and salves. All attendees will take home a goodie bag of herbal goodness, too. This Herbalism Workshop will be held on July 27th from 9am to 12pm at Roscoe Village’s Lock Landing in the Visitor Center.
