Q: Who owns Woodland Herbal?

A: We are a partnership of family members: Brandon Scott, Jennifer Parsons, and Leah Scott. We are passionate owners who have a hand in every detail of every product. We are completely dedicated to designing and producing wellness products that have a positive effect on your everyday quality of life and wellbeing. We have four generations of herbalists in our family and we forage for and grow a lot of our own herbs, and every herbal product we sell is handmade.

Woodland Herbal is a family run business that focuses on all natural products to better serve and inspire a healthy community. By employing four-generations old techniques, we produce potent herbal remedies and body care products. For every product sold, we will plant a local Ohio tree. With your help, we can grow a better tomorrow. Peace and love.

Q: Are your products made in the USA?

A: Yes, all of our products are made in Ohio. We are an artisan based company, which means we hand pour our candles, hand blend our fine oils, hand pick and forage for our herbs (where possible, depending on the season), hand stitch every piece of clothing, as well as create and blend our own medicinal salves from scratch, with years of expertise and many hours of research.

Q: Are your products natural?

A: Our products are made as naturally as they can be. The herbs we source elsewhere are always Certified Organic, and the ones we grow in our own gardens are always grown organically and without chemicals. Our topical products are made with locally sourced beeswax from Coshocton county beekeepers, as well as other regional sources. We use a combination of 100% pure therapeutic grade essential oils and phthalate-free fine fragrances and a lead-free cotton wick. Our oils and salves are always made with all natural products. Our fine fragrances are always phthalate free. While we ensure that as many of our ingredients are organic and non-GMO, there are a few ingredients that are natural yet do not claim either of these distinctions or grades, therefore we can not always label our own products as pure organic. Even though we focus on providing high quality products at an affordable rate, as a business we must consider this aspect when creating our products and pricing, and must make a balanced decision as to the quality versus the cost, therefore some products may not be completely organic, but they are made of high quality, clean, potent and pure ingredients.

Q: Do you really plant a tree for every item sold?

A: Yes. We plant a local Ohio tree for every item sold. For each sales event, we mark down how many trees are to be planted in the Spring and Summer of every year. We plant White Pine, Sassafras, Quaking Aspen, Red Maple, Gray Birch, American Elm, and Eastern Redbud in Coshocton county. Some of our trees are planted on family land, as well as other properties around the county. Our eventual goal is to plant a previously deforested area of public land, so that your purchases can translate directly into the rebuilding of an Ohio forest. With your help, we can grow a better tomorrow for the hopeful many generations beyond our own. We plant one seed per product sold as it's the most sustainable method to planting trees over purchasing pre-grown trees. While we strive to hit the highest germination rate possible, Nature is in control once we plant a seed and so, some simply do not make it to fruition.

Q: What does herbal infused mean?

A: Herbal infused means that certain therapeutic herbs, plants, roots, and flowers are infused into our products. Typically, we create a sun tea with herbs infusing into oils for several weeks before a product is made. Heat extracts the aromatic and medicinal properties of the plant, which then soaks into the skin by way of a carrier oil or topical ointment like a balm or salve.

Q: How do I ensure I won't have an allergic reaction?

A: Always perform a spot check on the inside of your arm. Apply a small quantity of product to skin, smaller than the size of a dime, and then wait several hours. We only offer our opinions and resources based on research, product testing, and customer reviews. We are not medical professionals and can not advise on ailments, treatments, nor allergies. It is important to take this information into consideration when shopping. Please look at ingredient list for allergies. Ingredients are listed as a courtesy to provide you with every opportunity to avoid allergic reactions.

Q: Will my pharmaceutical medications interact with these herbal products?

A: It is indeed possible for a pharmaceutical medication to interact with a herbal ingredient in our products. If you regularly take any medication, it is especially important that you consult your doctor or a medical professional prior to use. We are not medical professionals and can not advise you further on safety recommendations.

Q: Is there an expiration date on your natural products?

A: We at Woodland Herbal hand blend all of our own products in small batches to ensure optimal freshness, consistency, and potency. Our products are not made to sit on store shelves for years and years. Although there are natural preservatives within the chemical structure of many of our natural ingredients, they are nowhere near as potent as the synthetic preservatives used in commercial products to prolong shelf-life. All of our products are made every few weeks and none are very old when they are sold. Our products should be opened within 6 months of purchase and generally used within a year or so from purchase. Since we add no preservatives or chemical stabilizers, the more important question is, "How long will the product last once it has been opened?”

Once opened, herbal skin care products become exposed to dirt and microorganisms (bacteria, yeasts, and molds) that are found in the air and on the skin. As soon as you open and begin to use any product, simply the way in which you use it will affect its lifespan. So, when using a salve or topical, always put clean hands in the product, as this will assist in preserving a longer shelf-life.
Tip: Write the date you opened the product for the first time on its label so you can keep track of the time since opening.

Q: What do I look for when my product has expired?

A: If your product has gone bad, there are a few telltale signs to look out for. For salves and lotions, the texture will have changed, the color and scent will also have changed drastically. There will be a greasy, rancid smell. There’s no mistaking it. Oils will also take on a similar rancid scent profile. Tea and other dried herbs don’t go bad, but will lose potency over time. If you notice these characteristics, it’s best to discard of the product.

Proper usage can assist in extending the shelf-life of a natural product, such as avoiding contamination, which is why we advise always to use clean hands when touching the product. Always leave the lid on and sealed tight, because leaving a product open to the air and elements can cause the product to lose scent (same goes for candles and soap), change color, and lose potency. Always store your natural botanicals in cool, dry, and dark places as light and heat can effect the product quality and potency.

Concerning cbd products

*CLOSURE NOTICE: CHANGES TO OHIO CBD MEANS CHANGES FOR US. THE WAY CBD IS PROCESSED AND WHO MAKES IT IS UNDER GOING A CHANGE IN OHIO WHICH EFFECTS OUR ABILITY TO SERVE YOU. OVER THE COMING MONTHS WE WILL WORK TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS TO CONTINUE MAKING AND SELLING OUR CBD PRODUCTS.

Woodland Herbal no longer sells CBD products due to changes in CBD rules and regulations. New regulations in Ohio stop us from creating our traditional CBD medicines. At this time, we are looking for investors to help us get back into the CBD industry as we know these type of medicines are among the best natural products available. However, the new Ohio CBD rules require a commercial building, licensure, testing, and other regulations, which make it too expensive for us to compete. Big business has been handed the entire industry and small businesses like us have been forced out.

Q: Will full spectrum CBD show up on drug tests?

A: When we sold CBD, we followed federal hemp law that all CBD products must have less than 0.3% THC. All of the High CBD Hemp Flowers we used were tested prior to import to meet this standard. From our understanding, most drug tests do not test for CBD, and since THC is so low, it should not show up on drug tests. However, we can not make guarantees as all employers and drug testing facilities operate under their own guidelines. The use of any of our full spectrum CBD products is at your own risk. Woodland Herbal is not responsible for drug positive test results. Please do your own research to ensure no adverse consequences.
